Butterfly Stories
Butterfly Story #1
I sometimes associate butterflies to my loved ones who passed away. When my Ina and Ama (my mom’s parents) met our Creator, there were two black butterflies in the room (they didn’t die on the same day , well almost the same day, same month but different year). When my dad breathed his last breath, my mom said that there’s a yellow butterfly on the bed's headboard. And when my Nanay (my dad’s mom) died, there was a brown butterfly at our house and when I visited the funeral I saw a brown butterfly on her casket.
A couple of weeks ago, November 4, 2004 to be exact, I saw a yellow butterfly here at the office, mga thrice kong nadaanan. Pero hindi ko naisip ang dad ko kasi ang dami kong inisiip that time, about sa work (it’s so hard to please everybody, SOBRA!!!!) and family (they are expecting so much from me, particularly my mom). Ewan ko ba kung bakit nagkakasabay-sabay ang mga problema anyway that same day, on my way home, may yellow butterfly na lumilipad sa may window ng FX na sinasakyan ko. Sabi ko pa sa sarili ko “Uy! Sinusundan ako nung butterfly”.
Then the next day I saw the yellow butterfly again at the office. Wala ako masyadong ginawa that day kaya nagblog hopping na lang ako. I accidentally stumble at this blog, one of his posts is about a dream he had about his dead grandmother. Then bigla kong naalala na death anniversary pala ng dad ko nung November 4. I said a short prayer then pinuntahan ko yung yellow butterfly but sadly wala na yung yellow butterfly.
Butterfly Story #2
I was the one who managed our computer shop late last year up to early this year, every morning I had a white small butterfly visitor na pumapasok sa shop. Tapos there was a time pa na umiikot sa ulo ko yung butterfly tapos biglang mawawala na, brother ko ang unang nakapansin nun at sobrang kinilabutan siya at hindi lang once yun nangyari sobrang madalas. Sabi nila someone is watching me over daw. Pero ang weird lang ng feeling kapag iniikutan ako sa ulo PROMISE! Tumatayo yung mga buhok sa likod ng leeg ko. Pero walang mintis yun, araw-araw akong dinadalaw nung white butterfly.
Word History: Is a butterfly named for the color of its excrement or because it was thought to steal butter? It is hard to imagine that anyone ever noticed the color of butterfly excrement or believed the insect capable of such theft. The first suggestion rests on the fact that an early Dutch name for the butterfly was boterschijte. The second is based on an old belief that the butterfly was really a larcenous witch in disguise.
